Democratic Values

I just wanted to put these down in my blog. I think this list of values - which our country is based on, would be a great list to use to develop a classroom management plan.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
the public or common good
justice
equality of opportunity
diversity
responsibility

These are somewhat value-based, but they are the founding values of our country. Therefore, these should be values that all people living in America can agree on. I wrote that sentence before reading the rest of Parker, Chapter 3, but as it so succinctly states in there "Democratic values are public or general values".

Further clarification of democrative virtues are:
Honesty
Civility (treat others courtously and respectfully)
Responsible (fulfill ones obligations)
Lawful
Courage
Fairness (justice)
