I was thinking last night laying in bed (where I often come up with most of my great ideas, I need to use the Bird by Bird idea and keep an index card handy) and I came up with 'Two minute drills'. An appropriate term for me, a sports fan. These drills would be small learning lessons that don't take much time and no extra materials. So, I thought I would start - and hopefully keep growing - a list. I thought it might be fun to put these on popsicle sticks and when the class has a few minutes (they have most all finished the project, but it's not quite time for lunch, etc) pull one out.
So - here are my 'Two Minute Drill' ideas:
- Recite the 4x facts (or 6x or 7x, etc)
- List words that could be used instead of 'big' (or any word, just to get kids to think of more descriptive words)
- Name as the states (or South American countries, etc)
- Count up doing 'Bizz Buzz' - chose numbers quickly and go around room
Anyone reading this blog - feel free to send me any ideas you have!
